In partnership with Muslim Charity (UK), LSSL is building four community mosques and a madrassa in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement. The project delivers permanent, solar-powered places of worship and learning for refugees and the surrounding host community in Uganda.

LISA Supporting and Sustaining Lives (LSSL), working in partnership with Muslim Charity – Helping the Needy (UK), is constructing four masjids (Clusters C, L, F and I) and a madrassa in the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement.
Each mosque is a permanent block-masonry structure designed to serve the community, featuring a prayer hall, a separate women's prayer section with its own entrance, a covered veranda for overflow, an imam's office, ablution facilities with clean water, sanitation, solar power and a symbolic minaret. Alongside the mosques, a two-classroom madrassa block provides a dedicated space for learning.
The project targets the poorest and most vulnerable members of the settlement and is delivered with strong community participation — the land is contributed by the community as Waqf, and a long-term sustainability plan ensures the facilities are maintained for years to come. The work is implemented in line with international humanitarian principles and recognised construction standards, with regular monitoring and reporting throughout.
